0.02 nm Optical Resolution (FWHM) Possible

The HR4000 Spectrometer is our next-generation high-resolution spectrometer. The HR4000 has a 3648-element CCD-array detector from Toshiba that enables optical resolution as precise as 0.02 nm (FWHM). The HR4000 is responsive from 200-1100 nm, but the specific range and resolution depend on your grating and entrance slit choices. This novel combination of optics and electronics is ideal for applications such as characterizing lasers, measuring gas absorbance, and determining atomic emission lines.

Maya2000-series Spectrometers

Back-Thinned CCD area image sensors have high UV response, great signal-to-noise characteristics and wide dynamic range, making them especially suited for low light level applications. Because of their great native UV response, FFT-CCD detectors do not require the application of UV-sensitive coatings, which is common with standard CCD-array detectors. That’s important because batch-to-batch variation can be problematic with some UV coatings.

Fiber Optic Light Sources & Sampling Optics

Light Sources

TUNGSTEN HALOGEN

The LS - 1 Tungsten Halogen Light Source is a versatile white - light source ( 360nm - 2microm ) offering high color temperature, extremly efficient output and very long life, in a compact, economical package

COMBINATION LIGHT SOURCE

The DH-2000 Deuterium Tungsten Halogen Light Source combines the continuous spectrum of deuterium and tungsten halogen light sources in a single optical path. The combined-spectrum light source produces a powerful, stable output from 215-2000 nm. In addition, deep-UV versions of the light source are available, providing a 190-1700 nm wavelength range.

Sampling Chambers

CUVETTE HOLDERS

Standard cuvette holders are available for 1 -cm and 10 -cm cuvettes. The CUV - ALL 4 - way cuvette holders for 1 -cm cuvettes have fiber optic couplings at 4 collimators -- 5 -mm diameter f/2 collimating lenses optimized for the UV - VIS, VIS/NIR or UV - VIS - NIR. Optical fiber can be attached at these collimators to read or illluminate the sample. When combined with spectormeters and light sources, CUV - ALL assimblies can measure absorbance, fluorescence, scattering, or any combination of these optical phenomena.

General Purpose Transmission Dip Probes

Our T300-RT and T200-RT Transmission Dip Probes couple to our spectrometers and light sources to measure absorbance and transmission in solutions. These probes are especially useful for embedding into process streams for in situ, real-time sample monitoring

Theory of Operation

In transmission dip probes, light is transmitted from the illumination fiber through a plano-convex lens and through the sample compartment to a flat, second-surface mirror. The light reflects from this mirror and is focused by the lens onto the read fiber. The advantage of the transmission probe is its compact optical design, which fits into a 6.35-mm (1.4") OD stainless steel body, or ferrule. The trade-offs with these probes are that they measure both transmitted light and backscattered light from the sample and have internal reflections that limit the dynamic range of the measurement. Still, at less than $1,000, transmission probes are a cost-effective option for many on-line and lab applications.

FLUID SAMPLING SYSTEMS

The FIA - 1000 - Z is an automated liquid handling system that couples to the miniature fiber optic spectrometers for rapid, quantitative analysis of solutions. The FIA - - Z consists of a two - channel peristaltic pump, a 1 -cm path length fiber optic flow cell, fittings kit and Windows - based operating software. A pair of optical fibers completes the sampling package. The cell has an optical path of 1.5 mm, and is available in Plexiglas, Teflon or stainless stell.
